My name is Blane Perun. I have been in love with diving and reef aquariums since the early 1990's. I created TheSea.Org and it's sibling sites to share my diving and reef keeping experiences with the world.

I spent half of a decade operating a very successful coral farm from my home and have had a tremendous experience with the hobby and the people I meet. I hope you enjoy my sites.

One of the most helpful sections of TheSea.Org is Aquarium DIY which actually spun off onto it's own site, you can find it by following the link. I have compiled over 100 reef aquarium DIY plans from very advanced to perfect for beginners. The compilation covers calcium reactors, protein skimmers, meters, chillers, feeders, reef lighting and much more.

Coral Farm Project, one of the most rewarding hobby experiences of my adult life. I have put together a small site about my experiences building my coral farms as a block greenhouse on a small piece of property. The Coral Propagation site covers everything from erecting the building, heating and cooling to picking wave making devices.

After spending a few years in the hobby and having established a good number of dives under my belt I wanted to create something unique with the diversity and zonation I saw when diving on coral reefs. 500 Gallon Reef Aquarium is a small site I built in dedication to a multi-zone reef system I built in early 2000. The system included an upper reef crest, mid reef ledge, lower reef, back reef and a refugium lagoon. It was a great learning experience and I had tremendous fun in the build and during the hours of reading and sipping espresso in front of the tanks. Check out Reef Aquarium for the full story.

After a few years of propagation and importing a wide diversity of specimens, I decided to put together a small coral reef picture gallery. The gallery is a compilation of some of my best specimens, as well as a species identification guide. Also included are some interesting articles on scuba diving. Check out the collection of coral reef photos.
